Top Five Trends Home Buyers Are Looking for in 2018

Every year experts reveal the new trends in home design that they predict buyers will be looking for in the year ahead.

Here are some of the top items that you’ll see on home-buying wish lists for 2018:

1. More Colour in Kitchens

White will always be classic in a kitchen, but adding more colour is in this year! Buyers are not looking for bland - they are wanting rich and vibrant colours for a fresh, unique look.

2. Colourful Appliances

2018 is the perfect time to move away from just stainless steel and add a pop of colour when it comes to appliances. Expect to see lively, retro coloured appliances like refrigerators, washers and dryers, ranges and stoves in bright, bold shades of reds, lime greens, hot oranges, beach blues and sunny yellows.

3. Patterned Flooring

Statement floors are in! Say goodbye to plain hardwood, because patterned flooring is what buyers will be looking for. Designs range from bold coloured geometric shapes to more subtle herringbone-style hardwoods and chevron patterns. Expect to see these floors everywhere including laundry rooms and bathrooms.

4.  Light Wood Cabinets

The trend is moving toward medium and light wood cabinets, particularly with flat fronts and clean lines. Neutrals like “greige", grey, oak and other warm toned woods will be popular.

5.  Matte Metal Hardware

Matte metal is in and looks great for things such as drawer pulls and light fixtures. Homeowners are choosing sleek matte hardware instead of shiny silver and gold, which will pair nicely with the lighter cabinets.
